Amazonian Manatee (Trichechus inunguis)
The Amazonian Manatee is the largest aquatic mammal in the Amazon Basin. This species of manatee can reach a length

of 3 meters and a weight of up to 300 kg.
Their coloration is gray-brown.
The manatee's closest relative is the elephant and hyrax
(a small furry animal that resembles a rodent).
Manatees are gentle and slow-moving. They spend most of their time eating, resting, and in travel.
Manatees are completely herbivorous and consume up to 15% of their body weight daily in vegetation.
The reproductive rate for manatees is slow.
It is believed that one calf is born every two to five years.
The Amazonian Manatee is an endangered species.
